A DAD-of-three had more than 1200 indecent images of children on his computer.
Vile William Jeffrey admitted downloading the sickening photos and videos on the family computer when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court this week.
The Drongan man is now behind bars awaiting his sentence.
Depute fiscal Victoria Hart explained to Sheriff Carole Cunningham that some of the images were at the most serious end of a scale used by prosecutors.
She explained: “His wife became concerned about his level of computer use and suspected he was viewing pornographic material.
“When she was using the family PC she found files she believed to contain child porn.”
The couple separated and in June 2007, police searched the house in Drongan’s Barbieston Avenue
They sent the PC to the computer forensic unit for examination.
Analysts found 1295 images and films containing indecent images of children on an external hard drive.
When he was interviewed by police, Jeffrey responded to the charges by stating: “Not guilty.”
But he pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children when he appeared in court this week.
Sheriff Cunningham put him on the sex offender’s register and remanded him in custody while reports are prepared.
