Security firms must get licences for East Ayrshire properties

SECURITY firms must belicensed to work on East Ayrshire Council properties.

The local authority is one of the first in Scotland to make licensing compulsory for all private contractors providing security services in council owned buildings.

It comes as police crack down on organised criminals who operate as security organisations.

Councillor Hugh Ross, chair of the licensing panel, said: “By adopting this approach, the council is ensuring it provides the best customer service it can.”

East Ayrshire Council currently employs Trustcare (Scotland) Limited to provide security services for all of its existing premises and properties and the company is registered with the SIA (Security Industry Authority) under its approved contractors scheme.
