Robber escapes with four figure sum of cash

A ROBBER escaped with a four figure sum of money after holding up a bookmakers.

The William Hill in Ayr’s Main Street came under attack at around 6.55pm on Monday.

The 30 and 52-year-old men who were working in the store were threatened by the knife weilding robber who demanded cash. He then ran out of the shop and was last seen in Crown Street.

The staff members were uninjured but were shaken by the event..

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, of medium to heavy build.

He was wearing blue coloured jeans and a black and white jacket with a hood.

The jacket had a large snow flake pattern on it.

He was also wearing very white training shoes and spoke with an English accent.

Detective Constable David Scobie at Ayr police office is dealing with the robbery.

He is keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around the bookmakers prior to the robbery taking place, or anyone who seen the suspect running from the scene.
