POLICE have issued a warning to the public after two men were caught imitating cops.
The culprits approached three young girls and pretended to be police officers before behaving in an inappropriate manner.
The young victims of the worrying behaviour are just 12 and 13-years-old.
Inspector Derek Ireland, of Cumnock police office, said: “These males were not in uniform and it was a poor attempt at trying to pass as officers.
“However any member of the public who is not certain that they are speaking to police officers should ask to see their identification which officers are always in possession of.”
A 28-year-old man and 16-year-old teenager have been reported to the procurator fiscal in relation to the incident which occurred on December 3.
Anyone with further information should contact Cumnock police on 01290 306600.
