Dad launches bid for Christmas number one

A DAD will do battle with the X Factor in a bid to be Christmas number one.

Coylton crooner Starsky is pledging to hit Simon Cowell where it hurts this yuletide.

And he reckons his charity record could make waves in the festive charts.

Starsky is aiming for a big hit with Old Carol – The Ultimate Christmas Song.

He admits it’s cheese all the way – but thinks music fans will lap up his alternative offering.

Starsky, 36, revealed: “I’m sick and tired of X Factor songs dominating the Christmas number one.

“As a musician, I long for the days where we used to have cheesy Christmas songs at the top of the charts at this time of year.

“Nowadays it’s either a reality contest winner or someone like Mr Blobby or Bob the Builder.

“So I put together an old fashioned song with as many references to Christmas as I could squeeze in – and I think it’s a winner.”

Starsky admits the move is a bold one, as he puts his reputation on the line.

A successful musical career has taken him across the world, playing a style far removed from the Christmas cheese.

He laughed: “It’s a massive risk and goes against everything I’d normally do.

“But I’m determined to raise money for Yorkhill as they did lots for my son, Harrison, who suffers from Hirschsprungs disease.

“Hopefully the public respond and I’d love just to make an impact on the Scottish charts.

“I’ve really enjoyed myself recording it and if it can do a little good at the same time, then all the better.”

Starsky’s charity Christmas song will be available to download at cdbaby.com from Monday, priced 99 pence.
