FLOOD warnings were issued when torrential rain battered Ayrshire.
Many drivers stayed at home rather than face the hazardous conditions.
Schoolkids in Mossblown were forced to take a detour to school when they discovered Annbank Road was flooded on Monday morning.
A Mossblown resident explained: “The road is a main bus route and the kids walk along the street to school, but pedestrians have had to clamber into gardens to get along the flooded street.
“Every time there is a heavy shower the road floods, so it’s no surprise.”
And in Doonfoot, ramblers had to abandon plans to walk along the riverbank.
But Ayrshire’s emergency crews insist that the poor weather didn’t cause them any major problems.
Traffic Inspector Drew Robertson said: “We have got off lightly here in South Ayrshire. There have been no emergencies.
“Certain roads have been flooded, but only for short periods of time.”
Community police officer Tom Graham added: “There has been the odd tree coming down in the last few days, but nothing major.”
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Fortunately we have had no emergencies relating to flooding in the last few days. Long may it continue.”
