Heather’s nailed it with new business

AN ADMIN assistant turned nail technician has brought revolutionary skills back from Australia.

Heather Torbet trained in gel nails when she lived Down Under with her husband Steven and kids Lauren and Blair.

But now she has come home to Ayrshire and is putting her expertise to good use.

Heather has just opened her own nail bar within an Ayr salon.

And business is booming.

She explained: “After years working in admin positions, I was very unhappy in this industry, and after having my second child I decided I’d had enough and enrolled in Kilmarnock College where I did my nail training.

A few years ago an opportunity arose to move and work in Australia.

“I quickly found work in a salon right next to the beach – it was fantastic, nails were very popular and the Australian nail industry is quite advanced and constantly updating and furthering themselves in training.

“I was lucky enough to work for two salons and found a trend that seemed to be very popular – gel nails. As an acrylic lady I was slightly sceptical at first, but after a few days training and working with products, I fell in love with the gel system.”

Heather continued: “I have recently returned from Australia for good, and hope to bring my knowledge and training – and more importantly, beautiful nails – to Ayrshire. I am promoting the gel but will still offer acrylic for all the die-hard acrylic fans.”

Heather’s business, Oxygel Nails, is located inside Forelocks Hair Salon at Mount Oliphant Crescent in Ayr.

As an introductory offer, Heather is offering a 10 per cent discount to customers who produce this article.
