Girvan police appeal for relatives of dead harbour man

POLICE are trying to find the relatives of a man found dead in Girvan harbour.

Paul Knight drowned after it is believed he slipped into the water.

He had been drinking with friends in the Harbour Bar the night before he was found.

The 61-year-old’s body was found at around 1pm Wednesday, October 21.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the Preston man’s death.

A spokesparson for Starthclyde police said: “Mr Knight is understood to have split his time between his fishing boat Brighter Hope, which was moored in Girvan Harbour, and his Preston home.

“He usually spent two weeks in Girvan, before returning to Lancashire for a fortnight.

“Officers have been trying to trace relatives of Mr Knight since his death. However, all enquiries have met with a negative result.”
