A NEIGHBOURHOOD feud led to a golf club attack.
Thomas Williamson saw red when his partner’s son was accused of throwing mud at a neighbour’s car.
So he smacked the accuser with a golf club.
The incident on April 26 was the latest in a long line of furious bust ups between the families in Ayr’s Dalmilling Crescent.
Williamson pleaded guilty when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court this week.
Depute fiscal Hayley Robertson told Sheriff Colin Miller that shortly before 6pm, Keith Samson was returning to his house.
He was approached by Williamson’s partner regarding mud being thrown at a car. She believed that Samson had accused her son of the damage.
Samson shouted back at the woman to leave him alone and at that, Williamson came running out of the house with a golf club.
Samson managed to fend off the attack and was only struck on the wrist.
He didn’t contact the police initially, but they had reason to turn up later in the evening and the incident came to light.
Samson had reddening to his wrist but did not want medical attention.
Defence lawyer Quinton Muir told the court that there is history of a considerably long running neighbour feud.
Mr Muir added that Samson has also been in custody over the hostility several times in the past.
Sheriff Colin Miller called for background reports on Williamson, of Dalmilling Crescent. He will be sentenced next month.
