Raising a cup for charity
COFFEE cups were clinking all around Ayrshire as fundraisers dug deep for charity.
The world’s biggest coffee morning brought together thirsty drinkers in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Almost 2000 Ayrshire folk took part as they staged around 160 coffee mornings.
And charity bosses are hopeful they have hit their fundraising target of £47,500.
Macmillan’s head of fundraising in Ayrshire, Susan Selkirk, said: “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was a fantastic success. I would like to thank everyone who took part.
“We rely almost entirely on donations and without all the hard work from our coffee morning hosts and goodwill from those who go along to their events, we wouldn’t be able to keep offering the fantastic services that so many people rely on.”
Around 65 people in East Ayrshire held a coffee morning, raising a massive £19,000, while in South Ayrshire 45 coffee mornings generated £15,000.
Quick-fingered fundraisers can still support Macmillan by buying a virtual coffee – text BEANS to 70123.
The text will cost £3 (plus the standard network rate) and a minimum of £2.19 will go directly to Macmillan.
