SCAM calls are being made to people, telling them they’ve paid too much council tax.
And the caller goes on to tell householders they could be due up to £3000.
The caller then asks for bank account details, in order to repay the money.
But East Ayrshire Council points out it is no way connected to these calls.
And the council’s Trading Standards Service warns residents to be vigilant.
It says people should never give out personal information such as bank details over the phone to a cold caller.
