Drongan thug back in court

A LOUT who has a string of previous convictions for causing havoc in his community looks set for his first spell in prison.

Gary Mitchell’s latest crime was smashing a window at a takeaway in his home village.

But the Drongan teenager is on probation for spitting on a child at Somerset Park.

And just last month, a sheriff ordered him to be of good behaviour after he was convicted of launching water balloons at a moving car.

The 18-year-old also has a previous conviction for jumping on a car.

Mitchell scrambled on top of the Vauxhall Corsa in Drongan’s Mainsford Avenue and jumped all over it.

He caused £1700 of damage and the car was written off by the female owner’s insurance company.

This week at Ayr Sheriff Court, Mitchell pled guilty to smashing a window at the Best Food Takeaway in Glencraig Street on June 20 this year.

Defence lawyer Peter Lockhart told Sheriff Grant Hutchison that the latest offence occurred while Mitchell was on probation.

Sheriff Hutchison ordered reports on Mitchell, of Sinclairston Drive.

He will be sentenced next month.
