Dad says thanks to cardiology unit

A PRESTWICK dad who raised hundreds of pounds to buy TVs for Glasgow’s Yorkhill Hospital has ensured that every room in the cardiology unit now has one.

Scott Wardrop ran a half marathon to raise cash after his son Kieran was treated for a heart condition and underwent life-saving surgery at the unit.

After presenting the TVs, Scott realised there was still a room still without one, so he decided to raise even more cash through other ventures.

Running on behalf of the Scottish Association for Children with Heart Disorders (SACHD), his original aim was to present the unit with a large flat screen TV with Freeview.

Scott said: “Television is a big part of home life, and children’s channels can help to put them at ease and make the experience of being in hospital a lot less stressful.”

After raising more than the original target he was able to but two additional sets with built in DVD players.

This left only one scan room without a TV.

Scott again raised more than he had aimed for, and as well as equipping the scan room with a brand new TV he also managed to present the hospital with a small sound system and a bundle of CDs – music to the ears of the patients and staff of the unit.
