Seven arrests in drugs crackdown

SEVEN people were arrested in just four days as police cracked down on drugs.

Officers swooped across South Ayrshire seizing drugs ranging from cocaine and cannabis to heroin and ecstasy.

Two men were arrested when their car was stopped by the Ayrshire crime team in Adamton Road South, Prestwick, on Friday.

More than 50 grams of what was suspected to be cocaine was discovered in their possession.

Police then searched the homes of the 24 and 25-year-old and they were later charged with possession and supply of illegal drugs.

A 39-year-old man was found to have more than 100 ecstasy tables in his possession when he was searched by officers in Ayr on Friday.

And officers responding to a disturbance in the Sandgate, Ayr, found a quantity of amphetamine on a 24-year-old Ayr man.

A 47-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were arrested after the crime team raided a house in Russell Drive, Ayr, and recovered a quantity of cannabis.

And on Monday evening, a flat in Campbell Court, Ayr, was searched and a quantity of cocaine, cannabis and diamorphine (heroin) were seized.

A 46-year-old Ayr woman was arrested at the scene.
