BALLANTRAE this week gained a silver medal certificate at the Beautiful Scotland awards ceremony in Aberdeen.
The certificate recognises the village’s excellent efforsts in enhancing its environment.
And it was presented by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Peter Stephen.
Judges said of Ballantrae: “This new committee’s impressive forward planning for the village and its environs is to be commended.
“Their enthusiasm and the huge local support is already making an impact, and this community has shown excellent plans for the development of local heritage sites.”
Two villages in Perth and Kinross – Comrie (winner) and Muthill (runner-up) took the top honours in the village section.
Perth and Kinross gained a total of eight awards, with East Lothian and North Lanarkshire collecting five apiece.
Sadly, there were no winners from any of the three Ayrshire council areas.
