Armed response unit in Ayr swoop

ARMED response units rushed to Ayr in the early hours of Sunday morning after claims a man had a gun.

Kings Court and John Street were sealed off while police officers dealt with the situation.

An eye witness said: “It was a full-scale armed swoop. Police with sniper guns were there. It all kicked off just after midnight and police eventually arrested a guy who was in a flat in Kings Court after 3am.”

A 35-year-old man appeared from custody on Tuesday morning.

David Grant, from Russell Drive in Ayr, was charged with possession of a firearm at 8 Kings Court. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

A woman also faces charges in relation to the incident.
