A WOMAN was allegedly stabbed in a brawl outside Ayr Sheriff Court.
Erin Lawrie, 32, and her boyfriend Dean Hill, 29, arrived at shortly before the court started at 10.30am on Tuesday morning when it’s claimed that they were assaulted.
One witness said: “The melee was all over very quickly. I didn’t actually see a knife but I heard later she had been stabbed.”
The assailants made off and extra police and an ambulance arrived at court a short time later.
Ms Lawrie is believed to have been treated by paramedics in the back of the ambulance for a stab wound to her thigh.
After giving a statement to police a battered and bruised Dean Hill joined his partner, both of Ayr, in the ambulance and the pair were taken to Ayr Hospital.
Meanwhile officers examined the court’s CCTV footage.
At around 11.30am a woman in her 40s and a man in his early 20s were led in handcuffs from the court building and taken away in a police minibus to Ayr’s King Street police office.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed that the incident had taken place.
He said: “The female sustained a leg injury which is not thought to be serious. The male sustained a facial injury.
“A 20-year-old male and a 45-year-old female are currently detained in connection with the incident.”
