Handbag thieves at work in Ayr town centre

POLICE are urging woman to watch their handbags while shopping in Ayr.
A team of women pickpockets are targeting the town centre.
They are believed to be working in teams of two.
One of the women distracts the shopper whilst the other carefully removes the purse or wallet from the unsuspecting shopper’s handbag or carrier bag.
The culprits are described as small and of slight build.
They are careful to cover their face with a scarf or similar.
