Wedding belles say ‘I do’ to charity ball

IT’S a charity ball with a difference.

And the wedding themed fundraiser being organised will be a bizarre sight.

Scores of brides are set to descend on Ayr’s Station Hotel.

And Laura Wallace is urging married women to dig out their wedding dress and wear it one more time.

The Prestwick woman is running the New York marathon in aid of Children with Leukaemia and wants to raise as much money as possible.

She explained: “I absolutely loved wearing my dress and was disappointed when I had to take it off and put it up in the loft.

“A wedding dress is probably the most beautiful dress a woman ever buys, so it seems such a shame to only wear it once.

“I’m sure others feel the same as me and so I decided to organise my own wedding ball as I don’t believe it has been done before in Ayrshire.”

Laura, 29, married her husband Drew three years ago and hasn’t worn her dress since.

She continued: “Women can also wear bridesmaid’s dresses, or simply their favourite posh wedding outfit, and men can wear kilts or suits.

“I also have some friends that are not married who are on a mission to find wedding dresses in charity shops.”

The ball will be held on October 10. Tickets cost £15 and the evening will include a buffet, games, a raffle and an auction.
