Driver banned two weeks after passing test

A ROOKIE driver was caught boozed up behind the wheel less than a fortnight after passing his test.

Robert Bryson drew attention to his dodgy driving outside a police station earlier this month.

The dopey teenager has now had his new licence revoked and will have to re-sit his test after a two year ban.

At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Bryson pled guilty to drink driving on Ayr Road in Cumnock at the beginning of August.

He was almost twice the drink drive limit when cops breathalised the 18-year-old.

Bryson was also charged with careless driving but his plea of not guilty was accepted by prosecutors.

Bryson's defence lawyer told Sheriff John Montgomery that his client had driven to the pub to meet pals.

On heading home they group were told that they would have to wait an hour and a half for a taxi.

The solicitor added that Bryson "stupidly took the decision to drive."

Sheriff Montgomery fined Bryson, of Glen Ave in Logan, £500 and banned him from the road for two years.
