Axed care home to be sold off
A FORMER care home is to be sold by South Ayrshire Council.
Templeton House, which was closed by the council six months ago, has been declared surplus to requirements.
And plans to put the residential home on the market have now been rubber stamped.
Councillors agreed to the move at the latest meeting of their leadership panel.
It follows the controversial closure in March, when council officials claimed the nursing home didn’t match care commission standards.
But, as the Ayrshire Post revealed, Templeton House ticked every box required by health officials.
And a shocked care commission admitted they were baffled by the council’s claims.
However, the closure was pushed through and the house has been lying boarded up ever since.
Now the house, which catered for 22 residents since the 1970s, is set to go to the highest bidder.
