Water bomb yob may return to jail

A YOB released early from jail has landed back in court for causing more mayhem.

Jason White, 16, was given an eight month prison sentence for his part in a sickening gang attack in Cumnock.

He was released on March 6 – half way through the sentence – and re-offended a month later.

At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, White pleaded guilty to throwing water balloons at a moving car in Glencraig Street, Drongan. He also admitted shouting and swearing at the driver.

Sentence has been deferred on the teenager for reports.

But a sheriff has hinted that he intends sending him back to jail to serve the rest of his unexpired sentence.

White was one of a group of 30 who descended on Cumnock armed with lethal weapons.

The gang brutally assaulted two innocent passers-by in November 2007.

Last week another member of the gang, Scott Caddis, was sent back to jail for telling a takeaway owner he was going to “chop his head off.”

Caddis had been released after two months of his original 10 month sentence for the gang attack.

Gary Mitchell, 18, also admitted lobbing water balloons at the car when he appeared alongside White.

Defence lawyer Peter Lockhart told Sheriff Colin Miller that Mitchell is currently on probation for spitting on someone at Somerset Park.

White and Mitchell, both of Sinclairston Drive in Drongan, will be sentenced next month.
