Couple in court over alleged knife attack

A COUPLE have been charged with scarring a 52-year-old for life in a vicious knife attack and attempting to murder their alleged victim’s son.

John Thomson, 33, and 26-year-old Lynsay Cooper appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

They are charged with assaulting Thomas Vennard Sr in Vicarton Street, Girvan on July 28 by repeatedly stabbing him on the head and body to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Thomson and Cooper who live together at 77 Rowan Road in Girvan are also charged with attempting to murder Thomas Vennard Jr, 25, by repeatedly stabbing him on the face and body.

They made no plea or declaration and were remanded.

The case was continued for further examination.
