A FOXY farmer is ditching cattle for the catwalk.
And Karen McCann is determined to do well in a national modelling competition.
If she is crowned Ubergirl 2009, Karen will walk away with £10,000 cash and a contract with a top agency.
It’s a late start for Karen though, the 31-year-old stunner has never pursued a career in the industry before.
But the former St Conval’s pupil, who also works in Ayr’s McArthurs bar, isn’t letting her age stand in the way.
Karen explained: “I’m the oldest girl in the competition, but I hope that won’t hold me back. It seems that people think you have to be married and have children by the time you’re 30. And people also think that farm girls are big and butch. I’m really trying to break the stereotype.
“Initially I entered for a bit of fun, but I’m in the top 20 at the moment which is a big surprise.
“I’m starting to get really excited now.”
Hundreds of girls entered Ubergirl 2009. Every week girls are voted off, until the end of August when only a few remain.
The winner will be decided at a glittering star-studded bash in Glasgow next month.
This is the latest string to Karen’s bow.
As well as being a farmer and barmaid, Karen also does promotional work for the Megalimo based in Kilmarnock and teaches pole dancing.
It means Karen has had plenty of people voting for her in the competition.
But she is hoping that the public will keep the votes flooding in.
Karen said: “So far, the support I’ve had locally has been great, and my boss in McArthurs has let me put posters in McArthurs, Flanagans and Boswells.
“The farming community have also been great.
“I hope people will keep supporting me and help me make it to the final.”
