First Ayr pub play looks set for a sell out

AYR’S first play in a pub looks set to be a sell out – before rehearsals have even started.

The play, Statistics, will be held in The Market Inn over four nights in October. But one night is already close to selling out, and the three others aren’t far behind.

The production was written by Ayr man Chris Taylor when he left the army having been sexually assaulted by his Sergeant.

The play is roughly based on his experience after was discharged.

It is the first play to be put together by Theatre Seanachaidh (pronounced shonaka, meaning story teller in Gaelic), a company founded by Chris and pals Donald Stewart and Rikki Chamberlain.

The guys held their auditions last weekend and were blown away by the turnout.

Chris, 26, said: “The level of talent was excellent and we had a few hard decisions to make.”
