Major housing plan lodged for Ayr's Greenan

FIVE hundred new homes are being planned for Greenan.

Housebuilder Mactaggart and Mickel revealed that they have lodged plans for the massive Ayr development with South Ayrshire Council.

They want to spend millions developing the area and if all goes according to plan it will be complete by 2018.

The company want to build the first 50 homes in 2010 and a further 50 every year thereafter.

Director Andrew Mickel said: “We have been working with all South Ayrshire Council departments including planning, transportation and education for a number of years to ensure the Greenan development meets the future needs of the area.”

The first phase of the development will include a convenience store, a care home and a number of affordable homes in consultation with a housing association.

A public consultation exercise has already taken place to gauge community opinion.

Mr Mickel added: “We are looking forward to building quality homes in what will become an attractive community.”
