AYRSHIRE Farmers’ Market is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
And they’ll mark the occasion when they hold their regular trading session in Ayr this Saturday, July 4.
Ayr MSP John Scott is the founder of the market, which has gone from strength to strength since it first opened at the rear of the Kyle Centre in 1999.
Mr Scott said: “Over the last 10 years, interest in local food has grown and the Ayrshire Farmers’ Market now operates in Kilmarnock and Paisley as well as Ayr.
“‘Buy local, eat local’ as a concept has developed into a win-win situation for our customers, who get the best of local production at reasonable prices.
“It is win-win for our town centre too, as it brings shoppers into Ayr and it also connects directly urban communities with rural food producers and farmers.”
The market still meets at the Kyle Centre and Mr Scott appealed to customers to go along on Saturday.
He added: “We hope that as many of our loyal customers as possible will come to the market on July 4 to help us celebrate the day.”
