ROAD workers painted yellow lines into pot holes.
And the blunder was the final straw for Cathy Jamieson who says the people of Mauchline should be guaranteed a bypass.
The Cumnock, Carrick and Doon Valley MSP is determined to make sure a timeline is set for the long anticipated road.
Ms Jamieson says the A76 going through Mauchline is chaos during rush hour and has been pushing for a bypass since she became an MSP.
The heavyweight trucks which regularly pass through the village tear it up.
But despite the council constantly filling the pot holes in, it is a never ending battle.
And Ms Jamieson says she couldn’t believe it when workers ignored the pot holes came along and painted yellow lines in and out of them.
She said: “This has been an issue since I became an MSP but in the last four years it’s become really quite focused.
“Things are just getting worse.
“There has been some discussion with the council and a developer who wants to build on the outskirts of Mauchline.
“It was hoped that there might be some opportunity to upgrade or get a bypass. But given the economic down turn there’s no certainty in that.”
She added: “I desperately want to see a timescale put on this. Everybody accepts it needs to be done and we need to find a way of making it happen.
“The state of the A76 through the village is a disgrace and a bypass would greatly alleviate the traffic problems people face on a daily basis.”
And she launched a scathing attack on her political opponents.
Ms Jamieson said: “Local people deserve answers, not more broken SNP promises.
“I have spoken to numerous residents on this matter, and there is a growing sense of anger with regards to the situation.”
