A 14-YEAR-OLD girl is still missing almost three weeks after she was last seen.
As the Post went to press, Katrina Hiley’s whereabouts were unknown.
Her family and the police are becoming more and more worried about her safety.
Katrina has run away in the past but never for this length of time.
The Queen Margaret Academy pupil was last seen by a family friend at a house in Ayr’s Main Street at around 10pm on May 30.
However, police are investigating a possible sighting of Katrina last Friday evening.
A girl matching her description was seen at the Ayr esplanade at around 6.30pm.
She was wearing a pink McKenzie jumper, denim jeans and white trainers.
Katrina is described as 5ft 2ins in height and of slim build with blue eyes. When last seen she was wearing a green khaki coloured skirt, luminous green top and a khaki coloured jacket.
Katrina’s hair is chocolate brown, but her fringe is lighter than the rest of her hair.
Inspector Graham Miller is appealing for any information which will assist police in tracing her.
He said: “We are making extensive enquiries in a bid to trace Katrina, but so far our efforts have proved unsuccessful.
“Katrina has been missing before but has normally returned home, and has never been missing for this length of time.
“As time goes by, and given her young age, our officers and her family and friends are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety and well-being.
“We have reason to believe that people in the local area may be offering Katrina accommodation and I would urge them to think of the concern and agony that Katrina’s family are going through.
“We will be continuing our efforts to trace Katrina and I would appeal to her to contact either the police or a friend or relative to let us know she is safe and well.”
Anyone who has seen or heard from Katrina should contact Ayr police as a matter of urgency on 01292 664000.
