Drunk dad phones police and owns up to driving

A BOOZED up dad drove around the block – and then phoned the police to tell them.

And when officers asked John Crane, 22, why he turned himself in, he replied: “I’ve done wrong and I want justice.”

At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, learner driver Crane, pled guilty to drink driving, driving with only a provisional licence and driving with no insurance.

The court was told that Crane phoned the police and told them where he was. He indicated he would wait for them to come and get him.

A defence lawyer for Crane, who lives in Ferguson Street with his girlfriend, explained that the dad-of-one got got behind the wheel after the couple had a row.

Sheriff Carole Cunningham banned Crane from driving for 18 months and fined him £432.
