TRAINS should leave Ayr bound for Glasgow every 20 minutes, if an MSP gets his way.
John Scott is taking his campaign to top executives of First Scotrail.
Mr Scott, who has pressed successive transport ministers for a more frequent service, believes the improvement is necessary.
He said: “The line between Ayr and Glasgow is one of the busiest commuter routes in Scotland and I am convinced that the introduction of a more frequent service, to at least one every 20 minutes, would be a real boost to our area.
“Since I first began campaigning for a more frequent rail service on the Ayr to Glasgow line some progress has been made, most significantly the acceptance by the Scottish government in their recently-published strategic transport review that increasing the number of services on this line each hour should be a key transport objective.
“However, as welcome as that acceptance is, what we now need is early progress to turn that aspiration into reality.”
