Kids’ author to visit Ayrshire schools

AN award-winning children’s author is heading for a tour of Ayrshire.

Sophie McKenzie, honoured by the acclaimed Richard and Judy book club, will be in schools next week.

Her tour is timed to mark the launch of her latest release, The Set-Up, due out on July 6.

Sophie will visit Carrick and Girvan Academies next Wednesday before Auchinleck and Queen Margaret on Thursday.

Jasmine Fassl, of the Scottish Book Trust, added: “The touring programme is committed to reaching all areas in Scotland to enable children to discover the appeal of reading and writing.

“The pupils in Ayrshire are in for an entertaining visit from Sophie and we’re sure her audiences will leave with lots of ideas for their own creative writing as well as some brilliant summer reads.”
