Dad sent to jail after sex act on teenager

A PERVERT who took advantage of a girl with a teenage crush has been jailed.

Kevin Mason, 23, admitted performing a sex act on the 14-year-old girl at his former Lochside Road home.

The jobless dad-of-one pled guilty to using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards the girl when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court at an earlier date.

This week, he was sentenced to eight months behind bars.

And the mother of his victim revealed that her family can finally put it behind them.

She told the Post: “I’d have liked him to get longer, but I’m just happy he got a jail sentence. In my heart I thought he was going to walk.

“This puts closure on the whole thing and it allows me and my daughter to get on with our lives.”

Mason’s young victim was a second year pupil at an Ayr school when the incident took place in April last year.

The offence only came to light when a teacher overheard her telling a pal at school.

The mother continued: “This is has torn my family apart, it has ripped us to shreds.

“My daughter has been getting a hard time at school since it came out, she’s going to leave as soon as she has sat her exams.”

Mason knew the young girl since she was 12.

She added: “He knew she had a crush on him and he took advantage of that. When we all discovered what had gone on we couldn’t believe it. He was so calm when we confronted him. But then he admitted it through a text message.”

Mason, now of Ayr’s Gould Street, has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
