MP plans to hold travellers summit

A FURTHER summit will be held in Ayrshire to discuss problems caused by travellers.

MP Brian Donohoe will host the meeting between the chief executives of all three Ayrshire councils, education and social work representatives and police.

The Central Ayrshire MP also revealed that he plans to invite representatives from the travelling community in a bid to find a solution and stop the problem spiralling out of control.

The move comes as Mr Donohoe reveals that he will meet with communities and Local Government Secretary Hazel Blears on June 3 to bring her up to date with Ayrshire’s experiences.

And he says he will also push the government to introduce legislation that will help tackle the issue.
