TERMINALLY ill Margaret McCrorie was determined to take part in the walk.
But when her body refused to grant her wish, the determined 72-year-old got herself a scooter and persuaded her family to join her.
The big-hearted Minishant pensioner was first diagnosed with cancer more than five years ago.
Margaret underwent a mastectomy and battled on. She was given the all clear in April last year.
But, tragically, in July she was given the devastating news that the cancer had returned and doctors are unable to treat it.
Margaret is a long supporter of the hospice and has worked in the charity shop for many years.
Her son Billy, 46, explained: “We are all very proud of mum, it was important for us all to take part in the walk. We probably wouldn’t have done it if she hadn’t asked us to.
“It’s been keeping her occupied and keeping her happy that’s the main thing for us.”
Margaret was joined on the walk by Billy and her other son Denholm, 39, her grandsons Paul, 10, and Alister, 10, and her friend and carer Dawn, 32, and her children Stephanie, 12, and Lewis, 8.
Margaret’s scooter was supplied by mobility aid services in Ayr who also supported her on the night.
