Ayr thug launches brick attack

A YOB launched a brick and a bottle at a teenager’s head before smashing a moving car’s windscreen.

Alan Ramage approached his victim in Ayr’s Fulshaw Crescent in August last year and accused him of assaulting his pal.

But the 18-year-old victim denied the accusation and turned his back on Ramage.

The young thug then pulled a brick out of his pocket and threw it, smacking the teenager on the back of the head.

That was quickly followed by a glass bottle that Ramage produced from another pocket.

Ramage and his friend then made off, but as he passed a skip he picked up a brick and threw it at a passing Vauxhall Vectra, smashing the rear windscreen.

This week at Ayr Sheriff Court, 18-year-old Ramage pleaded guilty to assault and willfully and recklessly damaging the car.

Sheriff Carole Cunninghame deferred sentence on Ramage, of Ayr’s Glenmuir Road, for him to be of good behaviour.

But she warned: “It is concerning you went to remonstrate with someone while you were armed.

“If this offending doesn’t stop you are on the road to a custodial sentence.”
