Politicians unite to keep Ayr tax office open

CATHY Jamieson MSP is backing calls by Sandra Osborne MP to keep the tax office in Ayr open.

The MSP met with union representatives at the Scottish Parliament, and heard their pleas for a change of heart by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Ms Jamieson said: “The trade union representatives who came to Parliament told me that the Ayr office was initially to be kept open.

“But that decision was changed without any real reason being given.”

She added: “The union is not just concerned about jobs, but also about ensuring there is access for people locally.

“I fully support Sandra Osborne and the unions in the campaign to keep the office in Ayr.”
