A FATHER and son attacked a landlord in his Tarbolton pub.
Kevin Higgins, 23, and Charles Higgins, 46, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Friday.
They both admitted that on October 3 last year in the Plough Inn, Tarbolton, they assaulted Douglas Page, seized him by the throat, threw a glass at him and punched him to the head all to his injury.
The court heard that Mr Page, 57, spoke to Kevin Higgins after another customer had complained about his behaviour.
Depute fiscal Mr Brian Maguire said: “As a result of this Mr Page asked Kevin Higgins to leave and as he was leaving he grabbed Mr Page by the throat.
“Other customers intervened at that point and Mr Page was ushered into a back room.
“As he was being ushered away Charles Higgins punched him on the head.
“Kevin Higgins then picked up a glass and threw it in the direction of Mr Page narrowly missing him.”
Solicitor Mr Ian Gillies said that both his clients have well-paid jobs in the building trade.
He added: “These are good, hard-working individuals, who ordinarily do not get into trouble.”
Each was fined £900.
