THE design of Ayr’s new University has been hailed for helping the environment.
The £70 million campus, at Craigie, gained an ‘excellent’ rating from a building research study.
Construction of the campus, which will house the University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Agricultural College, will get under way this summer.
Professor Seamus McDaid, Principal and Vice Chancellor of UWS, said: “Our new Ayr campus is being developed with particular attention being paid to its environmental impact and future sustainability and I am delighted that its design has received this prestigious commendation.
“Our new campus is an important development, not only for the university and SAC, but will also provide significant benefits to the local community and the west of Scotland as a whole.”
The new campus development is part of the university’s £250 million planned development programme, which will result in major benefits for all of its campuses.
