Drunk woman drove to Ayr police station

A WOMAN who drove to a police station drunk has been fined.

Catherine Clark was more than four times the drink drive limit when she took her husband’s insurance documents to King Street station in Ayr.

When she admitted the offence in October last year, she was ordered to attend alcohol counselling.

This week the 55-year-old appeared back in front of Sheriff Jack McGowan at Ayr Sheriff Court, who wanted to check on her progress.

He told her she could have been fined thousands of pounds but because of her plea and the success of her counselling he ordered her to pay £350.

Clark remains banned from driving until 2011, but her lawyer Peter Lockhart told Sheriff McGowan that, due to her health, it was unlikely she would ever drive again.
