TEENAGE girls can be vaccinated against cervical cancer even if they’ve left school.
Around 1500 of them will be contacted by NHS Ayrshire and Arran and invited to take part in the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) immunisation programme.
The catch-up campaign follows a massive programme which saw 5015 Ayrshire schoolgirls inoculated against the virus – which can help protect women against the second most common cancer affecting women in the world.
Girls in S5 and S6 and 16 and 17 year olds who have left school will be invited to have the three separate jabs over a six month period.
