Ayr pupils launch their festive CD

KIDS have ditched their classrooms for the music scene in a bid to raise cash for their school.

Pupils at Whitletts Primary are releasing their own CD after laying down the special festive track.

And their hit song has even made it to the airwaves after being broadcast on West FM.

Teacher Katie Reid explained: “It started as an enterprise initiative and went from there.

“The kids wrote the lyrics themselves and the song, called In the Deep Deep Snow, is totally original.

“The idea is to raise money for the school and we’re selling it to parents for £1.50 a copy.

“We haven’t decided whether we’d be able to release it to the wider public yet.”

The 30 Whitletts kids, who were drawn from primaries one to three, belted out their hit with Katie on keyboard.

The idea was her brainchild along with colleagues Rachel Holmes and Aileen Drummond.

Katie said: “It’s been a team effort and really enjoyable.

“Hopefully we can raise lots for the school and the children have also learned lots along the way.”
