Ayr mum reunited with long lost son

Mother Rena and son John have been reunited

IT’S been a Christmas that Rena White and John Fullarton will never forget.

For the mother and son have been reunited after 15 years apart and have spent the festive season catching up on a decade and a half of family news.

And 60-year-old Rena is over the moon at meeting the three grandchildren she didn’t know she had.

The Post revealed earlier this month how granny Rena received a shock call from missing persons experts telling her they’d found the son she last saw in 1995. She said: “It’s wonderful. It’s the best Christmas I’ve ever had.”

The granny of 12 explained that John is the youngest of her three sons.

They weren’t particularly close at the time and they simply lost touch.

Rena said: “He was married with a wee three-year-old girl, Helen, at the time. I moved to Manchester for a while and John‘s marriage broke up and he moved away from Ayr.

“I moved about quite a bit as well. I came back to Ayr and moved to a few different addresses. We just lost touch.

“I’ve tried lots of times to find him and never got anywhere.

“I even sat with the phone book one day and called every single Fullarton in it but had no luck.“

Rena was eventually put in touch with John via the National Missing Persons helpline.

And after numerous phone calls she arranged a Christmas reunion along with her daughter Tina and her three children Charlie, Alexander and Paige.

Speaking from John’s home in Dalbeattie, Rena added: “We’re all here together and its chaotic but fantastic.”

And John, who is a landscape gardener, said: “We’re having a great time catching up.

“I’m so glad they’re all here.”
