ITV show This Morning had a live link to Maybole for the opening of a brand new Age Concern centre.
Maybole One Stop Shop (MOSS) was given £8000 just a month ago by the programme.
And staff had an oh-so-tight schedule to develop a site into a brand new centre for the elderly.
They successfully transformed the School Vennel property with just hours to spare.
Project manager Gillian Anderson worked round the clock with a small army of volunteers.
They were mainly staff, along with their family and friends.
And Gillian admitted: “It was hard going, and there were times when I didn't think we were going to be ready for the programme to go on air.”
Presenter Steve Wilson opened the programme by feigning surprise at travelling 500 miles for a grand opening ceremony – when no-one seemed to have turned up.
Just then, there was the sound of the pipes, played by 12-year-old Carrick Academy pupil Scott Barrie.
And a crowd of young and old soon appeared behind the presenter, to wave to the cameras.
As well as tunes from Scott, the TV audience were treated to some festive music from members of the Three Schools Choir.
And the official cutting of the ribbon was performed by William Fielding, 95, and Isa Fulton, 86.
Provost Winnie Sloan and singing star Sydney Devine joined Maybole people for the opening ceremony.
Fr Stephen McGrattan, chair of the MOSS steering group, introduced everyone to the TVaudience.
And everyone went inside to see what the centre has to offer senior citizens in the town.
A weary but happy Gillian Anderson thanked everyone who helped get the centre open in time.
The centre will be delighted to receive any additional equipment that could be of use. Call Gillian on 01655 884032.
