It’s Euro party time for Maybole's Scott

SCOTT Alexander was one of eight young Scots who jetted off to Paris for the European Apprenticeship Party.

Scott, 19, from Maybole, is an apprentice engineer with Glaxo Smith Kline.

He joined 10,000 workers from all over Europe for the gathering.

Marie Burns of Skills Development Scotland said: “This is the first time this has happened on such a large scale.

“We are proud Scotland’s apprentices were able to show their talents and skills to other countries.”

The aim of the Paris event was to set up and develop a European apprentice exchange programme.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy and European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso created the programme.
