Ayrshire remembers the victims of war

AYRSHIRE remembered its war dead with services in towns and villages across the county.

The Ayr branch of the Royal British Legion held a wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph in Wellington Square at 11am on Tuesday, November 11 – exactly 90 years after the end of the first world war.

Serving and former servicemen and women were among those who turned out at services in Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Girvan, Maybole and Cumnock on Sunday.

IT was an emotional but proud moment for 87-year-old Quintin McGhee as he paid tribute to Ayrshire’s war dead.

For the former bombardier in the Royal Artillery was among the members of the Ayr branch of the Royal British Legion present.
