Scottish Parliament will meet in Ayr

THE Scottish Parliament is coming to Ayr.

The powerful finance committee will meet at County Buildings next Monday, November 10, in a bid to give the community the chance to see the parliament in action.

The public will be able to attend the committee’s formal meeting and witness a parliamentary committee in action as they question finance secretary John Swinney on the government’s spending plans.

Committee convener Andrew Welsh explained: “When the Scottish Parliament was established, everyone involved believed it was important that the people of Scotland should see their parliament in action.

“It means that local people can attend a parliamentary meeting and learn more about how the Parliament scrutinises the government.”

The finance committee is made up of convener Andrew Welsh and seven other MSPs – Jackie Baillie, Derek Brownlee, Joe Fitzpatrick, James Kelly, Alex Neil, Jeremy Purvis and David Whitton.

The evidence session with the Cabinet Secretary begins at 2pm.

To attend, call the parliament’s visitor services on 0131 348 5200 or e-mail them at sp.bookings@scottish.parliament.uk.

Tickets can be collected on the day of the meeting from the County Buildings in Ayr.
