THE homecoming parade brought back some highly emotional memories for dozens of war veterans.
Ronald Cole, 89, and Tom Want, 88, both served in the Second World War.
They braved the elements to pay their respects to the latest generation of war heroes.
Both men now live in Dalmilling care centre but they have never forgotten their experiences as serving soldiers.
Ronald served in Germany and in Burma, while Tom was a Royal Marine Commander and was active in Burma for five years and Singapore for a year.
Ronald said: “This is the biggest homecoming parade I’ve seen and it’s a long time since I took part in one. They’ve made such a good job of it.
“It’s was worth coming out in the cold for. Today has brought back a lot of memories for us.”
