Ayr man is cleared of raping two males

AN AYR man has been cleared of raping two men.

Andrew Davidson, 37, had been accused of forcing two 33-year-old men into having sex with him in the town.

But a jury at Glasgow High Court returned a not proven verdict after hearing all the evidence.

The first rape was alleged to have happened in Davidson’s Church Court home between December 1, 2007 and February 29 this year.

Davidson was accused of a second rape on another man on April 13 this year.

One of the alleged victims claimed he was raped at knife point after boozing with Davidson for half an hour.

The second man claimed he was forced to have sex when he allowed Davidson to sleep on the couch.

Davidson accused both the men of making the allegations up and categorically denied that he forced either man to have sex with him.

In evidence he told the court that he didn’t have consensual sex with either of the men either.

Judge John Morris QC told Davidson on Monday: “You have been acquitted and are free to go.”
