Work set to start on major changes to Burns Statue Square junction

THE SLIP road from Burns Statue Square to Smith Street and the railway station will close on Monday, October 27.

The temporary closure is to allow work to be done on the existing junction’s kerbs and pavements.

Vehicles wishing access to Smith Street and the station will have to do so via Kyle Street.

As soon as work is complete, the council plans a one-way traffic flow from Smith Street (at its junction with Kyle Street) into Burns Statue Square.

But access to the railway station from the square will be be maintained under the new planned road lay-out.
